I have gone nuts

Hey all, its Master Brusso here. I was out for a walk this morning, taking a break from working on the newsletter and I was just thinking along when it hit me. I have been asked to bundle the defenders, in the past, and I never knew what to do with that. Then it hit me! Bundle them all, everything I do, get it all… I’m nuts… then I went back and started to work on what I could do to answer the mail. Well, I made a page and put it up on the site however… I wasn’t thinking big enough… I did a presale discount on top of the bundled discount… I showed the webpage to a few and shoot… I offered 15 limited time offers and sold 3 right off the bat… so go take a look here as there is only 12 left. This makes a great gift or Xmas gift too..

The Mental Warrior down load

The Mental Warrior offered for digital download

I just put up our new site (self defense weapons) and offered, for the first time, the digital download of the Mental Warrior. I was very pleased that the sales have been brisk and regular. Now, I had it on the other site but never positioned it in a place for people to find. Same on me. In the new site I rolled in everything I know about building websites. I used keywords on each page in their strategic places. I also did info ads on many of the pages so that people who are reading that particular page might find other material of interest.

Another place I put in some time was on the "certified instructors page". I really ramped up each of the instructors pages, as the drop down menu can be found on the upper right hand side of the page. I organized the instructors into states and countries such that others can find teachers in their area.

I also spent a lot of time on the valuable DVDs as they are a great add on to a self defense weapon purchase. I have a overall listing of each DVD and they you can "drill down" for the specifics. This, I feel, will help people get the added self defense training they really need. These DVDs can fit right into your best self defense strategies.

Finally, I'm pushing some more onsite content about real world events and what we might learn from them. I have that theme going here on this blog but I want to cross pollinate those lessons to the site as well.

I hope you enjoy the new site and please send me your comments.

Fight, flight or hide?

I just put up an article over at amazings about the new thinking about an on campus shooter. They are completely changing their thinking on the topic and I found it refreshing in many ways.  Check out the article by clicking here...

DNA Could Have Caught Plymouth Rapist Over a Decade Ago, Says Ex-cop

A little known fact. If you use a defender to defend (self defense weapon) yourself and you get your attacker bloody or the like, you have DNA on the defender. Place it a plastic bag and I have a friend who can process the defender for DNA. Might help later down the road and I will replace your defender for FREE! In some cases this could be very valuable and helpful to nail the criminal so he/she won't do anymore harm to the general public. This could be your best self defense! Here is a case in point... enjoy

DNA Could Have Caught Plymouth Rapist Over a Decade Ago, Says Ex-cop:
Shaun HarrisonA former detective in charge of the manhunt for rapist Shaun Harrison has criticized Devon and Cornwall Police over potential DNA mistakes.
Stewart Butler, a retired Detective Sergeant, told The Herald that Harrison should have been picked up over a decade ago.
As reported in The Herald, the 46-year-old has been jailed for two rapes in 1989 and 1995.

Home Invastion

Another case in point for some personal self defense capability or at least a weapon at the door. Better yet to answer the door with a defender in your hand or pepper spray. Just don't open the door to see who is there!

Enjoy

Authorities say two suspects are in custody on suspicion of aggravated assault, kidnapping and strong-armed robbery after a home invasion in Tempe.

Police responded to the report of robbery about 5:40 p.m. Thursday.

They say the victim had been expecting a roofing repair company. He opened his apartment door and two men forced their way in by striking and shoving the victim to the ground and then began taking items from the home.

Police say the robbers forced the victim to walk with them to a convenience store ATM so they could withdraw cash and the released him.

The victim called police and they say 20-year-old Burtron Smith and 18-year-old Garret Jors were arrested.

Police didn't know Friday whether either Smith or Jors have legal representation yet.

Self defense something!

Authorities in Nevada are searching for a 17-year-old girl abducted from her home in Henderson by two men.
Police issued a statewide Amber Alert on Friday for Melissa Duran. They say two men knocked on the door of the family home around 7:30 a.m. Friday and grabbed Melissa when she answered.
Henderson police say her parents received two calls later demanding money for her return.
Authorities are looking for a two-door red sedan with a blue front fender. They believe the men may be headed to southern Utah, northern Arizona or Southern California.
Melissa was last seen wearing white pants with black stripes and a yellow blouse.

The need to understand how to defend yourself

Here is a case in point about why I think everyone should know a little self defense. It sounds like it was a knife on knife fight, which I have a great 3 DVD series on said topic. However, I think everyone should know a little on how to protect themselves with a knife and against a knife. Had this unfortunate person had the knowledge of my knife on knife DVDs things would be very different indeed. To the point even a defender (self defense weapon) can be a very effective tool against a knife attacker. It always saddens me to see a life lost and this might have been stopped. Even a gun would have turned the tables but I presume he didn't have one or didn't carry it. Lesson learned for the rest of us!

The above picture was me in 1982 knife on knife fighting with Cal Feamster.

Covina fatal stabbing suspect arrested, victim identified

COVINA -- A suspect was behind bars Friday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 38-year-old Covina man in his own backyard.
Gonzalo Robles died at the scene of the stabbing, which took place just before 1:50 p.m. Thursday in the 3600 block of Shadyglen Drive, in an unincorporated county area near Covina, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Assistant Chief of Operations Ed Winter said.
Louis Alberto Villaneda, 32, was booked early Friday on suspicion of murder after being treated at a hospital for stab wounds of his own, according to sheriff's officials and county booking records.
He was detained hours after the stabbing, authorities said, though information on how he came to be in custody was not available.
Deputies who responded to the stabbing found Robles lying facedown in his backyard, according to sheriff's officials.
He had suffered multiple stab wounds, Winter said, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, the victim argued with another man and it escalated into a fight, Deputy Kim Manatt of the Sheriff's Headquarter's Bureau said in a written statement.
"During the fight, the suspect used a knife to stab the victim," Manatt said. "The suspect fled the location on foot."
Deputies closed off surrounding streets and searched the area.
Covina Police Sgt. Ray Marquez said two schools, Royal Oak Middle School and Sierra Vista Middle School, were placed on lockdown for about an hour as deputies conducted a search for suspects.
"Several hours later, a male who appeared to be involved and who was also suffering from a stab wound was detained and transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injury," Manatt said. "His wounds did not appear to be life threatening."
Villaneda was arrested on suspicion of murder just after midnight, records show. He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the sheriff's San Dimas Station pending a scheduled arraignment Wednesday in West Covina Superior Court.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

From a recent email

I wanted to share this email without the persons name. Priceless I think... A wonderful message from a self defense weapon owner... enjoy Master Peter Brusso

I recently had a memorable opportunity to show the Defender 1 to my good friend who is a black belt in taekwondo. He was amazed as every attack he threw at me was easily and effortlessly brushed away or rendered useless. As he left later that night I asked him what he thought... he informed me he will be ordering one asap soon as he has the $ to spare. :-) and of course now that I have had a mock opportunity to use the tool in semi action I am more impressed then ever. Hope all is well

Man stabbed in neck in Baldwin Park

Well with the current trend to outlaw everything, especially guns, I think we all should look at the news and see what else we might need to outlaw to help the nanny state types to put more laws forward to protect us. Here is an example... I think we should outlaw knives now. God only knows who is next to be hurt by these evil Republican instruments of destruction! I will look for some more to add to the list, all tongue and cheek of course. I'm glad the self defense weapon has not made it to the front page yet.. or any other of  my self defense weapons! haha

Man stabbed in neck in Baldwin Park:
BALDWIN PARK -- Surgeons rushed to save a man's life after he was stabbed in the neck during a fight early Saturday, police said.
Police responded to a report of "several subjects fighting" just after midnight in the 3700 block of Merced Avenue, between Ramona Boulevard and Baldwin Park Boulevard, Baldwin Park police Sgt. Chris Hofford said.
The fight had dispersed by the time officers arrived, however police received a call from a local hospital a short time later informing them that a 25-year-old stabbing victim had arrived at the emergency room, Hofford said.
The wounded man hospitalized in critical condition and immediately rushed into surgery, the sergeant said. His medical condition prevented him from giving a statement to police early Saturday.
No arrests had been made, and no suspect description was available.

What Really Causes Crime?

I was doing some articles on situational awareness and ran across this article. It is very good and goes a ways in explaining crime and who does it. As many know a self defense weapon is something that I always suggest we carry to help stop a physical attack on us.  Legal weapons are hard to come by and we all struggle to have them. It turns out it's all about where we are in the world but I can say the defenders do seem to go everywhere. So, this article helps to explain why bad things happen to us. Self defense weapons are obviously of great interest to all of us but this article sets the stage for the mind set.

What Really Causes Crime?: We are afraid of crime, quick to blame the perpetrators for making our world less safe. But why do people deviate towards crime in the first place?

Summer time is coming and that means vacations

Vacations are coming up and you have to think about your safety. So, in that thought I want to recommend that you consider two things. First, is to learn to use a defender and carry several with you on your vacation. If you travel by air, just put them in your check on bags for safe keeping. If you want to carry one on the plane I would suggest a "guppy" model. Also, remember if you get one taken away, I will replace it at no charge to you. Second, I would learn some simple self defense techniques. I have two very good DVDs that can really help you if you need to defend yourself. One is simple weapons disarms and the other is Be Real, both are wonderful, easy to learn and extremely effective. All with a money back guarantee as well.

Always remember that you are going into the "bad guys" home or back yard when you are on vacation. So, it's important to use all your "awareness" skills to keep yourself safe. Also look into clothes that have concealed pockets for your money or valuables. Also, keep one wallet that looks real and has some cash in it so if you are held up you can give the dummy wallet instead of your real one. Make your dummy wallet look real by adding some out of date credit cards, etc to it so it can pass a quick inspection before the bad guys leave you.

If approached by the bad guys, remember to never go with them. That is the start of a horror film and you would rather stand your ground where you are then to be kidnapped. It is your choice but I would rather stand my ground then be tied up and killed. Horrible topics to discuss but your safety is paramount and your loved ones might just have to count on your split second choices... so think of them in advance and it helps you react quickly.

Stay safe

Survival Podcasts

Lately I have been listening to survival podcasts and watching "doomsday preppers" on Nat Geo. I think I have always been a prepper as visible by my martial arts orientation. I am watching what the preppers are doing for their self defense. Most are very well prepared to defend themselves and their safe house. It depends on ones survival orientation but there could be times when you don't want to have a lethal response. A non lethal option is a possibility and I have two thoughts.

First, I think all preppers should know how to disarm weapons from aggressors. I have a DVD called simple weapons disarms that I would highly recommend. Another DVD that I would recommend is the Be Real series. Learning how to throw a knife might also be a very useful skill for a prepper but I digress.

Second, obviously a self defense weapon "defender" but other things could be pepper spray or even "wasp spray".  One thing nice about wasp spray is that it can be double duty; that is as wasp spray or a self defense tool. Even in the wind or rain, wasp spray does a good job and it doesn't cause permanent damage. Bear level pepper spray might also be the one to carry for a non lethal situation.

One good podcast I have been following is survival tech.  You can find it in iTunes so you can listen to their informative podcast. I have learned lots from this podcast and I'm sure you will also enjoy it.

Stay safe out there and never leave home without your defender!

Be aware of your surroundings

This is a tragic case. It plainly shows that one needs to always be aware of ones surroundings. Situational surroundings are very important and you must always keep your guard up, antenna up, and your gut feelings working. In this situation these victims might have noticed the attacker, since they knew him, just before he made his run to shoot them. They might not have been sitting ducks. One can't be for sure but with your awareness up it does give you some advanced warning to things going wrong. A good thing to practice in your self defense skill mix.

The need for ....

Here in this article shows the basic need for weapons disarms. Everyone should know simple weapons disarms as part of their over all self defense! As you can see in this article violence is springing up everywhere and not only when you are in a bad area. A defender or self defense weapon would have worked well in this situation too so both things should be considered for your safety.. enjoy

attempted extortion

This is an unbelievable account of home invasion in the worst kind of way... from the inside. If she had a defender or self defense weapon... it might have been different but one has to consider these things when your safety is at hand..

Can you believe this?

Federal officials say security screeners at New York's Kennedy Airport caught a man trying to smuggle a knife onto a flight by plunging it into a full tub of mayonnaise.
A Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman says screeners stopped the man Tuesday as he arrived for a trip to Mexico City.

The hiding spot was poorly chosen. Jars of mayonnaise are also banned from carry-on luggage in the U.S.
The TSA considers mayo to be a liquid or gel. That means passengers can't bring it aboard unless the container holds less than 3.4 ounces.

TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein says Port Authority Police confiscated both the knife and the mayonnaise. They still allowed the man to catch his plane.

A combination of weapons might be a great option

The occupy protesters are showing up at your work place now! Are you prepared for this event, coming, going or arriving at work with protesters? Well, it’s even more important now then ever before to have some training in personal protection.

Consider the use of both Pepper Spray and a Defender (SelfDefense Weapon) for your personal self defense.

I was contacted recently by a gentleman named Joseph Morris of http://www.buy-pepper-spray-today.com and that made me think of using both tools in ones self defense. The pepper stray is good for a medium to long distance weapon to help stop a close quarters attack from happening. Or at least you might slow it down and degrade the attackers will to hurt you. But as they close, best to use some other tool for close quarters or hand to hand fighting. The combination of pepper stray in your non favored hand and the self defense weapon in your favored hand (a defender), could go a long way to helping you defend yourself and/or your loved ones. Please visit the Self Defense Weapon at http://www.pdws.biz and pepper spray at Joseph Morris’s site http://www.buy-pepper-spray-today.com
